Put the social insights infrastructure to work. Pivoted from being the data guy to going all Hollywood, diving into the business of entertainment research. Used social data to shape decisions across the content life cycle, from green-lighting and casting to audience development, while managing junior analysts.

Came on as Netflix’s first social data specialist, working with engineers to set up the social insights infrastructure. Partnered with social data providers and built metrics frameworks, laying the groundwork for how Netflix extracts insights from social data.

After my master’s, I rejoined as lead social media analyst. Got deep into media planning, helped optimize campaigns, and automated reporting. Played around with social data APIs and built tools to measure social engagement.

Another internship as part of my master’s - worked on a big account, expanding my web analytics stack.

First internship as part of my master’s - got real insight into how big brands use paid social and social analytics tools. Played with big data, built my first Boolean, and they extended my internship through the semester.

Went in for a marketing interview and turned it into a pitch to run their social media. They handed me the keys, and I ran it all - content, community, analytics. Built a 300,000-strong community, got press mentions, and made social media central to their comms strategy.

With social media just emerging, I started an events business focused on booking DJs and building a community. I learned firsthand how powerful it was to connect and promote through online platforms.

First job out of college - thought it’d be finance, but it was all sales targets. Picked up a few sales tricks, hit my targets, but knew I wanted something else.
