My specialties include 501(r) compliance and community health needs assessments, Form 990 filings, unrelated business income taxes, and state charitable registrations. I primarily serve hospitals and health systems, senior living organizations, and FQHCs. In my role at CliftonLarsonAllen, I frequently speak at HFMA, LeadingAge, and CPA society conferences across the country. The most common topics are 501(r) and "current events in the tax-exempt environment", although I've spoken on many other topics as well.I left CliftonLarsonAllen for one year, from January 2011 to January 2012, to work as an Intermediate Tax Analyst at Allina Health. I returned to CliftonLarsonAllen to enjoy the fast-paced and continuously changing environment of serving multiple needs for various clients across the nation and across industries.

Topics included government and nonprofit accounting; beginning, intermediate, and advanced financial accounting; individual and corporate income tax; managerial/cost accounting; and auditing. My time with DeVry University ended when the company closed its Twin Cities campus.

I served the tax needs of a $3 billion health system that included eleven hospitals and over sixty clinics. My responsibilities included preparation of federal and state income tax filings, state sales tax filings, educating various departments on the regulatory and legal consequences of their decisions, evaluating processes to increase efficiency and decrease costs, reviewing data collected by others for accuracy and consistency, and researching various tax-related issues including the viability of obtaining tax-exempt status for a pioneer ACO.
