I initially started as a laborer, primarily working through the summer months. As time passed, I climbed the ranks to become a safety officer, responsible for overseeing safety on road construction projects, pipelines, and lease sites. My duties included ensuring that all workers had the appropriate safety certifications for their specific work sites. I also conducted morning safety meetings before the start of each workday. Notably, these responsibilities extended to camp work during the winter season.

During the winter months, I managed power saw crews for oil companies, specializing in the cutting of low-impact seismic lines. My responsibilities extended to surveying these seismic lines using GPS and maps, occasionally relying on compass navigation. Beyond that, I was actively involved in cutting pipelines, creating road access to leases, constructing new roads, and even operating as a power saw operator from 2000 to 2014. This was a seasonal occupation, and during the summer, I transitioned into the role of a wildland firefighter.
