About Kurtis Lange, Eit

I graduated from BCIT with both a diploma in mechanical engineering technology and a degree in mechanical engineering. I have a significant interest in research and development and am actively seeking opportunities in related industries, where I am excited to apply my perseverance, strong engineering skills, and practical experience to my next position.While working at Quicksep Canada, I designed several water treatment systems. All systems included generating a 3D model in SolidWorks accompanied by shop drawings for manufacturing. After starting the design process based on initial requirements, regular meetings were conducted to discuss progress and include any new requirements or iterative changes to improve the designs. Once the designs were finalized, the drawings were sent to the shop and the products were manufactured. Due to a shortage of work, my time at Quicksep Canada was short, but I gained useful experience with designing for welding and manufacturing.After completing my third year of studies, I had the pleasure of completing two engineering internships with Dr. Jaimie Borisoff at BCIT’s Rehabilitation Engineering Design Lab (REDLab), sparking my interest in the research and development field. Additionally, both my diploma project and my capstone project were sponsored by Dr. Borisoff. At the REDLab, I applied my theoretical knowledge from coursework at BCIT and gained valuable hands-on experience. All projects included manufacturing a prototype, which provided a significant learning opportunity about different manufacturing processes and designing for manufacturing and assembly.After graduating, I motivated myself to lose 90 pounds. Throughout my weight loss journey, I persevered through several challenges and continued on even when I felt like quitting. When I’m not working, I enjoy escaping to the mountains and pursuing outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, and snowboarding.
