George Washington University is a four year private research institution in Washington, D.C. serving over 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students.I work in the Office of Student Life in the Division for Student Affairs overseeing the onboarding experience for new community members. My role is to facilitate a sense of belonging, build affinity, provide resources, and ease the transition from high school to college for students and their support systems through intentional communication and programming. Other areas my office and role supports includes an immersive program experience exploring D.C. and a transition focused program celebrating an important milestone: declaring a major. After C-Suite leadership completed an organizational restructuring, my position was moved under this Division and the office was created. I maintained my responsibilities and acquired more.1) Overhauled and repurposed the onboarding experience from multiple small programs to a multi-event, one-week experience with over 100 events for an audience of 4,000 people.2) Grew the staff by 50% and created roles with varying responsibilities and learning opportunities.3) Developed a four-week training course and facilitated five online synchronous training sessions. 4) Launched a comprehensive online onboarding course for 2,600 participants with 98% completion rate.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

The Office of Student Support and Family Engagement supported the onboarding and continued development of undergraduate students. My role was primarily overseeing the onboarding experience for new community members, training experience for new employees, and triaging cases as a case manager. After C-Suite leadership completed an organizational restructuring, my position was moved under this newly created office. I maintained my responsibilities and acquired more.1) Developed content and managed onboarding courses on Blackboard for 2,500 participants.2) Managed the online registration database for over 2,500 users, including troubleshooting and providing customer support. 3) Trained and supervised 30 employees resulting in overwhelmingly positive experiences and demonstrated skills growth.4) Triaged over 100 cases annually and met with 30 academically at-risk clients to create a plan of action to be successful.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

Colonial Inauguration, New Student Orientation, was a program under the Administration and Hallmark Programs Office, which was an office that existed to plan and implement signature events on the college campus. In May, this office underwent a re-organization.My primary role was providing support to the Director of Orientation on programmatic efforts and managing the recruitment, hiring and training process of new employees.

Newport News, Va

Christopher Newport University is a public university located in southeast Virginia serving 5,000 students.My role was to oversee building operations and build community among residents. 1) Managed all aspects of a two building, 500+ residential community to include occupancy reporting, facilities management, safety and security, and community building; supervise a staff of 302) Planned and implemented the inaugural End of the Year Banquet with over 100 attendees.3) Participated in the recruitment, selection, and training of over 80 new student staff through a five-month process including an 14-week training course.

Newport News, Va

While serving as a Building Manager and community builder, I also served as an advisor to a woman's council within fraternity and sorority life (Panhellenic Council) at the university.

I worked as a graduate assistant in the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life as part of University Unions at JMU. I served as the co-advisor to the Panhellenic Council, the governing body over 10 sororities on campus. I practiced my coaching and mentoring skills through one-on-one meetings with student leaders and work on assigned projects throughout the year.

During my three month internship, I worked closely with the marketing team to develop and strengthen the social media used to promote the company. I worked with everything from Facebook and Twitter to Flickr photo stream and blogging. This experience furtherstrengthened my skills in communications, marketing, and expanded my overall professional network.
