My role at Synargy evolved over the 5 years I worked there as the company doubled in size and turnover. As a member of the Senior Management Team, I worked with all the divisions within the business as well as managing the relationships with all external providers to the finance function. As with all growing businesses especially through C19 there have been many challenges especially financial and I have supported the company and its director’s throughout all stages of the company’s growth path.

Upon leaving Grant Thornton I started working as a contract accountant via my own company, Ellmock Consulting. Over seven years I worked for a number of clients on an on-going and a project basis. My clients ranged from small home based businesses to an NZX listed company. I provided Energy Mad with management accountant support implementing a full management reporting system using QuickBooks. This covered full group consolidation of all entities including foreign currency operations and reporting to the management and board. I also built a number of financial forecasts models during the last three years including those used by the company for listing on the NZX.

I started at Grant Thornton as a senior accountant and progressed through a team supervisor role and onto a manager role. During this period I also had two children and completed a year as firm accountant for Grant Thornton.While at Grant Thornton my workload shifted from a compliance-based role to a management accounting and business management role. I supported a number of “A” clients in the production of their management reporting and was involved in risk reviews, gaining of finance and restructuring processes. I continued to enhance my accounting software skills with a number of software implementations in conjunction with management reporting systems to provide higher levels of information to assist in business decision-making and monitoring. As part of this I became an Accredited Trainer with Quicken NZ for a number of years.In addition to the above I was also involved in business acquisitions and disposals, mergers of businesses, management of businesses in cash flow crisis, forensic audits of client information and due diligence assignments.

I started with KPMG as a graduate and quickly moved up to intermediate and became a senior at the start of 2002. I gained experience in annual accounting for all entity types, as well as completing GST, FBT, PAYE & RWT returns, monthly management reports and cash-flow projections.During my time with HKP I worked on a number of special projects and secondments including a 3-month secondment for a client in Sydney. This involved filling an Assistant Accountant role, dealing with day-to-day issues as well as weekly and monthly reporting to the head office in Christchurch. During my time in Australia I worked closely with the Group Management Accountant to rectify a number of issues and errors that had occurred prior to my arrival.
