Human Resources Intern
Millbrook, Alabama, United States
During my internship, I'm leveraging my expertise gained as an Air Force recruiter to bolster my civilian HR skills across various critical areas. Initially, I'm immersing myself in Human Resource Management, drawing on my experience in talent acquisition and management from my time in the Air Force. I'm refining my understanding of HR principles, legal contexts, and motivational factors, while also honing my skills in hiring processes, performance evaluation, and compensation management, which I previously utilized in recruiting and managing Air Force personnel. Following this, I'm applying my negotiation prowess developed during my tenure as an Air Force recruiter to enhance my negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills. Through courses in cross-cultural negotiation and leading mediation processes, I'm adapting my military negotiation tactics to diverse civilian environments. Moreover, I'm leveraging my experience in promoting diversity and inclusion within the Air Force to delve deeper into Organizational Leadership in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, exploring strategies to foster DE&I effectiveness in civilian organizational settings. As the internship progresses, I'm drawing parallels between my leadership experiences in the Air Force and civilian contexts, refining my skills in leading teams, organizational design, strategic leadership, and management. Finally, in Gender Analytics, I'm applying my understanding of inclusive practices cultivated in the Air Force to analyze gender impacts and lead inclusive innovation efforts. This internship serves as a bridge, allowing me to translate and adapt my Air Force recruitment skills into civilian HR expertise, preparing me for diverse leadership roles in civilian workplaces.
