As a maritime security officer my duties can best be outlined in two categories, security functions and safety functions. Security duties include but are not limited to: Access Control, Surveillance, Record Keeping, Document Verification, Use of scanning equipment, Identifying and Responding to various threats, dangers and risks, Operating within a hierarchy and following the chain of command. Safety duties include but are not limited to Ensuring Proper PPE is worn by visitors, Identifying and Responding to various safety threats, dangers and risks, Performing various drills and simulations, Ensuring work is done according to client, local and international specifications, Ensure adherence to COVID regulations.
