About Kyle Hebert

Graduated from Cal Maritime Academy on May 7, 2022 with a Marine Transportation Major and Marine Science Minor as well as a 3/M Unlimited Tonnage LicenseWhile at Cal Maritime, I blended my experiences working on deck learning and practicing Deck Safety, Deck Operations, and Navigational Equipment with my own oceanographic research studies and helping to build the Oceanography program.I interned with Foss Maritime Inc. as a cadet for a total of 111 days. I spent time as a part of their offshore fleet getting experience making and breaking tow with chain and wire. I also spent time on their inshore fleet getting exposure to high specification soft lines, bridles, and ship assist/tanker escorts.I worked with the Golden Bear Research Center working to test Ballast Water Treatment Systems as capable and certifiable systems to IMO and USCG standards.I wrote and was awarded two California State University Council on Ocean Affairs, Science, & Technology (COAST) research proposal grants where I optimized a Turner Designs Fluorometer Methodology to be used to measure Ammonium at Cal Maritime. I also tutored and lead Supplemental Instructor lessons for Marine Ecology as well as Marine Transportation Courses. I hope to continue my career blending Oceanographic science with transportation on the water extending our understanding of the world we live in as well as implementing better technology into the Maritime Industry.
