Engineering Manager
CurrentPrimary responsibility is to provide direct supervision of 18 multi-disciplined engineers and designers in support of the Management of Cesium and Strontium Capsules (MCSC) Project to design, procure, construct, and install first article structures, systems, and components (SSCs) needed to retrieve 1,936 highly radioactive cesium and strontium capsules from underwater storage in “pool cells” at the Waste Encapsulation and Storage Facility (WESF) and transport them to long-term, dry cask storage at the Capsule Storage Area (CSA).These duties include establishing all engineering priorities, schedule maintenance and adherence, and acting as the interpretive authority for code of record (COR) invocations. These duties further include conflict management, performance appraisals, coordination with construction project management on engineering priorities, and procurement of all subcontracted engineering services.Additional duty is to represent the engineering organization in review and approval of all high-hazard work control, which requires establishing, implementing and verifying adherence to safety engineering controls for construction activities in highly radioactive environments.
