The Shepherd: Apokatastasis. As our story begins Professor Lawrence Miller loses his son, Val, to a drug overdose. Overwhelmed by grief and fearing that Val was in terrible distress, Prof. Miller chose to follow his son into the afterlife. After great turmoil and grief, father and son were finally reunited.Now Lawrence and Val wander the “Seam,” the transitioning place, that ever-shifting space between this world and whatever comes next, choosing to spend their eternity helping other souls. Guiding them in this journey is Lawrence’s long-deceased father, Franco.

The premise is deceptively simple: an outbreak of zombies set in the time of the Crusades. The is the time of King Richard the Lionheart and the chivalrous Sultan Salah-Adin (Saladin). The authors of the story were inspired by the cinematic works of George A. Romero (nominally the creator of the modern zombie genre as we know it).
