As a Demand and Risk Analyst, I am responsible for the implementation and monitoring of demand planning and management processes and systems within the City of Cape Town which includes, inter alia, the following:• Engaging line departments to identify and document their procurement needs;• Reviewing demand plans to assess the quality and accuracy of the information provided;• Consolidation of departmental demand plans into an organization-wide demand plan;• Administration and maintenance of the demand management database;• Development of tools to support the tracking of tenders and contracts;• Monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the demand plan;I am also responsible for the identification of SCM risks and the co-ordination of risk management within the SCM unit through the use of statistical information from sections and the consolidation thereof for management use.

As a strategic sourcing specialist I am responsible for managing databases, analyzing data and preparing reports to help identify opportunities for business process improvements and cost savings. I also provide analytical support in the development of provincial sourcing strategies (ICT, Management Consulting, Security Services and Catering). 2016 – 2017I was responsible for overseeing and monitoring institutional demand planning and management across provincial institutions. My role required me to fulfill the following key responsibilities, among others:• Establishing a provincial forum for Demand Management and facilitating demand management workshops and discussions; creating a platform to share knowledge, experiences and best practices in demand planning;• Developing a procurement planning framework to guide procurement practitioners in the procurement planning and management process;• Developing assessment criteria for measuring institutional procurement performance and capability;• Developing procurement planning templates/toolkits used as a management tool to track and monitor progress against planned outcomes;• Developing a performance dashboard to manage procurement performance metrics (i.e. variance to plan);• Preparing organisational units spend/budget reports to assist management identify key stakeholders in preparation for planning workshops.

My role as a procurement analyst involved assessing institution’s financial capability and maturity through on-site compliance assessments. The primary purpose of our assessment is to identify internal control deficiencies and risks, as a lead analyst on several institutions, I would prepare assessment reports, make recommendations to reduce risk and improve compliance, prepare presentations to executive management and facilitate the development of implementation plans (corrective measures).2012 - 2014During this period, I was responsible for the development and implementation of a compliance assessment tool and framework/methodology to assist and guide assessment teams in the execution of assessments. This project was the first attempt within our unit to standardize on the assessment criteria/methodology; I was responsible for facilitating and coordinating this process. Additionally, the assessment tool that I was responsible for developing was used to collect and store data in a consolidated database, analyse assessment results and prepare predefined exception reports. The project (requirements gathering, technical development, deployment, testing and implementation) spanned over several months and the tool and framework was successfully implemented in 2013. I am very proud of the fact that the tool and methodology is still currently being used by the assessment teams, despite attempts from external vendors to replace it; which I strongly feel demonstrates the effectiveness of my solution.
