When I was 18 I chose to travel from Idaho to Guatemala to perform missionary service. I spent 2 years in some of the most remote areas of the country, living with the Q'eqchi' people. I learned to speak their language fluently, and I have a deep love and appreciation for their culture. I can also speak Spanish fluently. Upon returning home, I attended Brigham Young University - Idaho and married my wonderful wife. We now have a son. I began doing Court Interpreting on the side with SOS International, which led to other job opportunities. I soon realized that my passion for the Q'eqchi language and people is what I want to devote my life to. I have spent 3 years as a court interpreter for both Immigration and Criminal Court. For the last 2 years, I have travelled to and from Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas to serve as an interpreter for unaccompanied minors and staff. I provided interpretation for Case Management Interviews and Proceedings, Mental Health and Medical Assessments, Intake and Discharge, Trainings, etc. I also work with other companies on an on-call/as-needed basis to provide assistance with medical, law enforcement, emergency, court proceedings, etc. I am able to interpret between Q'eqchi 'and English as well as Q'eqchi' and Spanish, and I do so on a regular basis.
