I started working at a young age with my father who was a general contractor. Working summers with my father after the school year I learned how to build a house from the ground up. After graduation I went to work for the Iron Workers Union, Local 29 out of Portland OR. I learned blueprint reading, welding, rebar, and how to build steel frame buildings and concrete buildings/structures. After the Iron Workers Union I worked for a few welder fabricator companies and then ended up at KPI-JCI & Astec Int. Working there for almost 2 years I worked in the fabrication bay, where I welded the crusher together to include handrails, stares, frame, suspension, and all components that attach to the crusher. At the end of 2012 I joined the Navy, after boot camp I was injured during my Navy Diver training course. Once I healed I became a Navy Seabee. The Seabee's are the land based construction unit for the Navy. My job in the Seabee's is a Construction Mechanic. I maintain and fix heavy construction equipment. This equipment ranges from earth moving vehicles to large road based vehicles such as excavators, skid steers, flat beds, dump trucks, graders, rollers, dozers, lowboy trailers etc.At my last military command, I was the Crane Program Manager. Where I was in charge of 17 different cranes. Two 150 ton Mobile Boat Hoists, 2 category 1 cranes (15 ton/10.5 ton), 8 overhead cranes (7.5 ton), and 5 monorail cranes (2 ton). I took charge of ensuring they were certified on an annual bases, proper maintenance was conducted, and personnel were properly trained to operate them. The command consisted of roughly 580 Sailors, where about 100 of them were involved in the crane program. I also ran the dispatch office where I had 2-4 Sailors working for me. We were in charge of the government vehicles, and forklifts for the command.
