As a Community Educator in the Humane Education Department of the Dumb Friends League I schedule and instruct upwards of twenty educational programs for pre-k through adult age groups. These lessons range from how to properly meet a new dog for the first time to the link between abuse towards humans and non-human animals. During the summer months I run, with my two Humane Education colleagues, between eight and nine weeks of our summer camp for third-eigth graders. These camps are four days a week and 6 hours each day. Each week hosts 20 campers. I am also the creator and co-creator of other curriculum offered through our department and the volunteer coordinator for our department. In addition to my educational role at the organization, during the first four months of COVID-19 pandemic I assisted other departments where there was need due to the inability of volunteers to be present. This work included dog walking, kennel cleaning, and barn attendant work at our 168 acre ranch: the Harmony Equine Center.

I was part of the Organizer in Training (OIT) program of the national branch of SEIU. In this role I assisted in several union organizing campaigns throughout the country. My first six months was spent organizing home healthcare workers into a union in Vermont. This was a union campaign between SEIU and AFSCME. My region of responsibility was southern Vermont where I would conduct home visits to health care workers as well as develop leaders in the fight for representation by SEIU at the state capital. I worked on similar campaigns in Chicago, IL and Pittsburgh, PA. I was also part of organizing hospital workers in Orlando, FL.

This was a temporary position for a large campaign by SEIU 1199NE to organize home healthcare workers into the union. My responsibilities included door-to-door conversations with individuals in this field throughout the entire state of Connecticut.

CT Working Families is a political advocacy group as well as third party in Connecticut politics. As a Field Manager with the canvassing team, I lead a team each night in door-to-door canvassing throughout the state of Connecticut. I was responsible for dividing up neighborhoods of targeted areas for each member of the team as well as aiding in the training . During my time with the organization we were an integral part in helping pass the first state-wide Paid Sick Leave Legislation in the nation.
