My time as an intern at kW Engineering involved work in the following areas:Data engineering:• Heavily contributed to nmecr, an open-source software package for R used worldwide for statistical modeling of building energy consumption. I fixed critical processing issues, improved the performance of functions, and expanded functionality.• Contributed to and fixed issues in kW's in-house R processing script templates and R markdown files for generating building energy efficiency reports submitted to power utilities.• Processed building energy data for multiple commercial customers, created statistical models of their energy use, and calculated normalized energy savings for incentive program payouts. • Completed 4 courses in SkySpark and Axon development, during which I built dashboards and wrote Axon code to process and present building energy usage and performance metrics.• Contributed to kW's spark rule library, authoring multiple Axon components.Building energy engineering:• Performed site visits to large commercial buildings in California and Utah enrolled in energy efficiency incentive programs. These site visits involved auditing their refrigeration, lighting, and air-handling equipment to identify energy efficiency measures.• Served as project lead for a series of energy efficiency projects across grocery stores in San Jose. As project lead, I analyzed the buildings' energy consumption profile, assisted in identifying energy efficiency measures, created engineering calculations to estimate associated energy savings, and authored reports for PG&E and our client documenting the work we performed and the potential for savings.

As a research assistant to Cal Poly Humboldt ERE professor Josephine Archibald, I worked on a team with other environmental engineering students to study the relationship between solar arrays and soil moisture content underneath and around the panels. My main duties were to efficiently measure, systematically document, and report soil moisture content at more than 70 sampling locations per visit under strict time constraints at the Arcata Airport Microgrid. I also prepared maps to aid in the sampling process and communicate the procedure. Data processing was accomplished in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets for collaborative editing.

I co-authored and published an instructional booklet with CPH professor Lonny Grafman that provides step-by-step instructions on how to assemble and run a small-scale off-grid solar power system, complete with studio photos and 3D models. To provide real-world images of instructional steps, I shot and edited high-quality studio photos and created 3D models in SketchUp accurate to 0.1 mm for each assembly step.

As an instructional assistant to computational methods in Fortran, I worked one-on-one with students to improve their code and programming abilities. I also provided lectures to full classes of students and facilitated lab activities when the professor was out sick for multiple weeks.

In addition to managing general support tickets submitted by students, during the COVID-19 pandemic I developed curriculum to teach nontraditional and disadvantaged students the computer skills necessary to succeed in their online classes. I provided direct instruction to breakout groups of students and led activities to develop student skills in Canvas, Outlook, Google Docs, Google Slides, and Zoom.

As a professional photographer, my freelance career involved many different duties. My biggest clients during this time include Dell, Microsoft, Citibank, and Forbes. Some of the jobs I took included event photography, family and senior portraits, engagements, and weddings. I also taught photography workshops and one-on-one lessons in both photography skills and post-processing techniques. I commercially licensed my photos to major corporate clients and sold fine art prints of my landscape photography. In 2016, I won multiple first-place awards in the Landscape Photographer of the Year competition and had my photos featured in major publications like USA Today.

I was regularly contracted by SFFILM to shoot educational film screenings and director QA events at theaters around San Francisco. I worked with directors from major studios such as Pixar, Laika, and Aardman.

Sequoia National Park

During summers I taught photography classes to all ages and skill ranges and organized educational activities incorporating photography for young children. As the staff photographer, I also provided coverage for all events hosted by the lodge and managed their social media presence. During off-seasons, I was contracted on several occasions to shoot social media and marketing content.

Under the guidance of my supervisor and lead restoration specialist Lakisha Mitchell, I worked with a small team of students to restore Arrowhead Marsh, a key habitat for threatened bird species in the Oakland estuary. We removed invasive plant species and replaced them with native plants. In addition, I helped with documenting this process with geotagging locations and conducting surveys on bird species in the area.
