I'm a Full Stack Designer based in Idaho Falls, Idaho with a BFA in Graphic Design.While studying Architecture in my sophomore year of college I taught myself HTML/CSS. I eventually switched majors to focus on Graphic Design which led me to a position with the University of Idaho Sustainability Center where I helped create print and digital assets to build involvement with sustainable practices in the university community as a Marketing Coordinator. Along the way, the Prichard Art Gallery in Moscow, Idaho asked me to help create an online art exhibit where patrons could bid on artwork via email. Besides my interactive design classes and my own side projects, this was my first gig as a front-end developer. I got a thrill out of creating an online experience for people to enjoy, while also making it functional. With this kind of experience, I felt well-equipped when my current employer reached out to me for an interview.Since starting as a Designer at Manwaring Web Solutions, I've learned a lot about the industry through client relationships and projects ranging from startups to large corporations. I quickly understood how direct communication with clients is paramount in setting expectations on budget, process, and deadlines. I've learned to be upfront, honest, and transparent when navigating our way through a contract to the finish line. Even though I've been in this role for 9+ years, there are always ways to improve, so I keep my eyes out for opportunities to create processes or strategies to improve efficiency through documentation, training sessions, and research.In my role now, I'm well-versed in Project Management, I maintain positive relationships with clients and carry out all design lead responsibilities. Those tasks include logo/branding design, creating assets for digital or print applications, loading website content using a combination of CMS tools (Umbraco + uSkinned + custom code), and mentoring other team members.
