Walking dogs is much more of a chore than most people think it is, especially when you have to walk three at a time. I started this job as a way or requiring myself to go outside everyday, to increase my hourly wage rate, and to incorporate a flexible schedule throughout my freshman year at college. At Companion Camp I, demonstrated how to walk and feed dogs as well as how to clean their pens to onboarding employees. Additionally, I took on extra responsibilities including structural and ground maintenance.

Working as a camp counselor in the heat of the summer is exhausting, but it is so much fun! I worked with kids ages 5-15 for almost eight hours every day M-F. At 1870, I led team building activities with councilors and campers and helped the campers throughout various activities during the day. Working at a summer camp is a job I think everyone should do at least once. I learned to work and have fun doing it.

During my time at Lowe's Home Improvement, I learned that sometimes you are going to have to do everything. My initial title was "Part-time Loader", which was as basic as helping people put things into their cars, but soon turned into "Do everything in the Lumber Dept. and also Part-time Loader". Lowe's had such a high employee turnover that I had new coworkers every two weeks, therefore, there was a lot of pressure on me to teach and learn new things rather quickly. Fortunately for me, even though I only worked there for a couple of months I became more confident and experienced at a very quick rate.
