As a Field Stream Biology Intern, it was our responsibility to test and keep record of the health of the Elkhart and St. Joseph County waterways by taking samples of the water as well as identifying the fish species present through the process of Electrofishing. During this time, we had to learn to how identify and age each fish species present in the Elkhart and St. Joseph County waterways, as well as tag any game species so it could be tracked throughout its life. We would also participate in Public Events to spread awareness of waterway health, and educate those on the different species that live in the area.
