I currently work as a Librarian I at Finkelstein Memorial Library in Spring Valley, NY. I enjoy the duties I perform, as well as the variety of working in adult services. These include answering reference questions, helping beginning or infrequent computer users get up to speed and troubleshooting some departmental technical issues. I am not actively seeking a job, but want to keep my information up-to-date and am willing to help or collaborate with others in my field. My main interest is in public libraries, concentrating on reference services. The classes I took for my MLIS reflect a broad outlook; this was intentional. These ranged from Cataloging, Reference, User Instruction, Internet Fundamentals, Digital Libraries, Management, Children’s Reading Materials, and more. I also participated in a Practicum at Skokie Public Library. My focus was on reference, however. While I was obtaining my master’s degree, I served as a Library Aide at Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. I had over a year of experience assisting patrons at a circulation desk and with ready reference questions, processing Inter-library Loan requests, and shelving books.I also have over ten years of marketing experience in the consumer packaged goods and market research industries, plus two years with information technology. Qualities I have fostered include excellent problem solving skills, leadership, dependability, and the ability to interact with others as part of a team.Skills:Reference, Circulation, Inter-Library Loan, Collection Development, Teaching, Database Maintenance, Analysis, Customer Relations, Problem Solving, Project Leadership.*Technical Competencies:HTML, CSS, Wordpress, Google Sites, Drupal, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Access, Ariel, Voyager, Millenium ILS, Data Server Analyzer (analysis software), Statpac Gold (tabulations software), Unix & Mainframe Operating Systems.
