Serve as a liaison for the National Association of Realtors to the Honorable U.S. Senator Peter Welch. NAR appoints one Realtor to each Member of Congress. This appointment involves several meetings per year with our Member of Congress to discuss and advocate for issues that are important for our profession, the housing industry at large and the economy. Issues that are in the forefront this year include preservation of the MID (Mortgage Interest Deduction), which helps keep housing affordable for millions of Americans and preservation of the 1031 Tax Exchange, which encourages investment in commercial real estate and provides economic stimulus. Because of his favorable voting record, Senator Welch is considered by NAR to be a Realtor Champion and it is an honor and privilege to serve in this capacity.
