My responsibilities as a Gordon Food Service van driver are centered around providing a service to customers. Small restaurant owners do not have the time or labor to spend on going to buy ingredients from a store. These customers rely on the GFS vans as the last step in the supply chain before they get the resources they need to keep their restaurants running. In the morning, I unload semi-truck loads of grocery goods and sort them. I sort the goods by the following categories: frozen, cooler, or dry goods. I then make sure that the goods are stored in the proper environment so that the goods do not spoil. After this, I sort the goods according to their respective delivery locations and by which route we would be able to fit each location in. I have to load each van and be aware not to damage the goods and stack them so that they will be sturdy enough to not topple over. Ultimately, I have to deliver the goods to each customer which takes, on average, about four hours of drive time each shift.

Lifted 50 lbs square bales from the field and placed them in a tight stack on the hay wagon, 5 tiers high. Off-loaded the hay bales, by stacking the hay bales into the customer’s barn according to their request. After learning how to accomplish these tasks, I then recruited some football teammates to join me.
