Vr Systems And Data Visualization Programmer
Working on the Magnetospheric Multiscale Mission outreach project with UNH, I have been tasked with developing the project's user experience in VR and visualizing various data samples directly from NASA's own satellites.I developed a shader graph in Unity to visualize the contour lines of magnetic data in 3D space and translated some of the researchers' code from Python to C#.Using OpenXR's Unity framework, I also created my own hand-tracking interface in C# and made various systems off it. All systems require no controllers and solely use the player's hands in VR. The full list of the systems are as follows:• HandTrackerVR - A singleton class that allows access to the player's hand data at any time, including the hand's transform values and gestures.• SlingshotVR - An item the user can deploy that will summon an interactive "slingshot" which allows the player to shoot particles into the magnetic fields to visualize their movement.• HandGrabbableVR - A Unity component that allows any game object to be grabbed by the player, including various settings such as throwing the object and gravity behavior.• ButtonVR - A component that creates an interactable button in VR space. It can be pushed or clicked to trigger various unity events.• LeverVR - A movable lever component that can control different objects in the scene using unity events. It has settings for what type of lever it is such as a single-directional lever, a bidirectional lever, or even a joystick.• JetpackVR - A grabbable object in front of the player that allows fluent free movement either in 2 or 3 dimensions without any need of controllers.• MarkerVR - A grabbable marker and erase the player can use to write on a whiteboard and erase it.• RaygunVR - An interactable and customizable pistol in VR space that fires off laser beams and can be reloaded by inserting a clip object into the raygun. The laser beams can trigger unity events such as spawning a particle.
Lead Programmer / Gameplay Systems Programmer
At Inkwell Studio, students are given the opportunity to lead and work on their game projects in a studio environment before entering the industry.Inkwell starts with a game jam to determine what projects will be worked on for the year, and I helped develop a game called The Foundry's weapon system and environmental Hazards. When projects were selected, The Foundry was picked and I was fortunate enough to be chosen as the lead programmer of the Silent Whispers project by Marcus Stamper. In my second semester, I helped co-develop the MMS VR project as a gameplay systems programmer.Silent Whispers is an open-world fantasy RPG featuring turn-based strategy combat and an open world with quests and characters to interact with. As the lead programmer, I was responsible for checking in with other programmers, assigning tasks, and educating new programmers about the systems and framework put into the game before they joined. On top of this, since our team was pretty small, I helped develop a lot of the main systems in the game. You can see all of the sprint progress I made in the attached documents below. You can see what I did for the MMS VR project in the section above.
