During my time in this position I helped in the maintenance of and support of tools that enable the business to service and support its customers. My main project was leading a re-write of a major application that is used in pricing the business services. The new tool increased uniformity in costing and pricing so the business can create tighter and more accurate margins to give customers their best deal. We also added half a dozen other services inside and outside the MSC to reduce the use of spreadsheets and out of date costs.During that I project I also lead research and architecting the best approach for development. I moved the teams projects from subversion to git on Bitbucket which allowed for creating better coding standards including code reviews and integrations with the existing Jira system. I also lead the team in learning agile scrum which we initially implemented 30% of the strategy and eventually about 75% of. This gives our users quicker updates and the ability to change context quickly to support the business needs.

This was a multifaceted role which greatly helped me to increase my skill level after college in terms of programming and customer support. The majority of my job was maintaining marketing websites and applications (internal and external) along with supporting customers of those sites. I would also help with IT projects when the team needed me such as moving or placing equipment, troubleshooting problems, and even running wire.Websites and applications were built with a number of different languages and frameworks such as CodeIgniter, WordPress, Bootstrap, jQuery, and a handful with plain PHP, JavaScript, and CSS. We had a different CMS and user database for each site and needed a better system of maintaining content and users of the applications. I lead the research and architecture of a new system that would allow for a single source of maintaining content and user information while allowing for separate marketing websites that still felt contacted.

My first couple years were mainly spent learning the companies various marketing websites and internal applications that had been custom built by a man in the IT department whom I worked directly under. I also did general IT work such as helping users with software and hardware issues, fixing printers, and decommissioning computers.The last few years here were spent solely maintaining the marketing websites and internal applications. The companies main website was outsourced to be completely re-written. When it came back I had to learn a new framework (CodeIgniter) to maintain the website. I ended up not only maintaining the website but also adding additional functionality to it. I then used the same code base to create a website for their smallest brand which completed getting all of their main websites into a modern framework and design.
