This position was a year in Japan working mostly in java, but also in C++ and other languages, developing an application for use in the tele-operation of multiple social robots. Working in a large team designing, developing and testing the various systems needed to run the application. After the application reached certain milestones, it was required to design and run experiments involving test subjects from outside the company to test the application. It was a multi-cultural environment, speaking English and Japanese regularly, and working with a team or autonomously to complete assignments and objectives.

This position was to develop ground collision detection systems for flight simulators designed to train commercial and military aircraft pilots. It involved researching and understanding the systems involved, and then planning and designing the new required features. Once these features were designed they had to be developed and then integrated into the overall simulator software involving thousands of systems. The work was very independent and required a lot of concentration and organization.

The QA position involved the testing of the Matrox graphics cards. While testing multiple different cards in various configurations across many systems at a single time, intensive automated graphical tests were run on each system. Creativity had to be used to think of various non-automated tests in order to find problems and bugs. If any bugs were found, descriptive reports had to be written and evaluated in conjunction with other team members.
