Developed a test site to obtain feedback on different approaches for content, navigation, and design. Resulting Web site culled the best ideas from employees. Qualis was a verification IP, consulting, and training firm that was later purchased by Synopsis.

Edited introductory through advanced ASIC verification, synthesis, system design, and reuse methodology training materials (400-800 slides/class; 19 classes) for hardware design and verification engineers. Maximized efficiency of course maintenance by using PowerPoint’s Custom Show feature. To minimize costs, used just-in-time digital printing.Designed e Language Field Guide (30 pocket-sized pages). Created online PDF version with bookmarks, links, and search capabilities. Guide gave verification engineers e language syntax, examples, and coding guidelines. Unique page layout enhanced usability of guide. Received Award of Excellence in Society of Technical Communications competition.Maximized engineer’s billable time by editing, co-authoring, illustrating, and formatting their technical articles for trade journals and engineering conferences. Received three Qualis Recognition awards. Team designer and lead writer for 1-2-3 for Windows-Multimedia.Made notable, creative contributions to feature and interface design, built prototypes, and conducted user-testing. The team noted that I was strong advocate for the user and that my ideas improved our product.Designed 1-2-3's use of WinHelp hypertext and multimedia features. Often gave demos to other writers to keep them abreast of this technology.Trained a team of writers to port the printed doc into WinHelp. Recruited support from the graphics dept. The new skills learned by these artists enabled them to create conceptual figures on later projects more accurately. Those products had more efficacy and connection to users.Architected and authored much of the functional spec for the multimedia product. This spec smoothly guided the team through product design and implementation. Also wrote the user-interface plan, doc plan, and several movie scripts.Built functional prototype of online book viewer. Researched other products, designed improved interface, tested it, elicited feedback, and added design changes. Result received accolades from domestic and international doc community, and also from Interleaf, who was interested in developing the viewer as one of their products.Efficiently ported the paper and online doc from the DOS version of 1-2-3 to the workstation editions. This project was the largest and most complex porting project done at Lotus to date.Member of doc team team spearheaded using Interleaf and its conditional assembly feature, which set an unprecedented productivity record at Lotus.Sole author for an update to a C reference manual. Gained the respect and confidence of the developers; they implemented my suggestions for improving the product's consistency and ease of use.
