Continuation of previous job at Eucalyptus Systems.Eucalyptus Systems was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in November 2014.

Served as the primary IT resource for the Eucalyptus organization where I successfully managed all IT activities for datacenters, servers, storage, network, telephone, and desktop support. Maintained two locations (Goleta & Los Angeles) consisting of 720+ physical Linux servers. Managed cobbler based PXE boot environment to automate on-demand server provisioning for engineers. Built and maintained physical/virtual servers for core production use. Used configuration management and provisioning tools Puppet and Ansible. Deployed and managed EC2 web servers andS3 buckets on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Storage area network was made up of various platforms. Installed and managed SAN environment as needed while coordinating with internal engineering group. Network environment consisted of Dell Force10 core switch, Hewlett Packard Enterprise switches, Juniper switches, NETGEAR switches, Dell PowerConnect switches, Aerohive WiFi APs, and Aruba WiFi APs. Managed all physical and logical interconnects, trunks, and VLANs for each network environment. Responsible for management of redundant internet circuits and high availability pfSense firewalls for each site. Built and supported the employee VPN solution using OpenVPN and authenticating with certificates and passwords. Performed periodic firmware and OS reviews and applied updates as needed. Supported the workforce and performed all customer support functions such as workstation/laptop maintenance, repair, replacement, purchasing new and/or special equipment based on their requirements. Facilities maintenance included alarm system, HVAC, working with electricians on circuit requirements, and working with structural analyst on datacenter weight limits. Also provided 24x7 on-call support for datacenters and employees.

As a senior member of the IT Operations division I held the role of UNIX and VMware team lead, providing direction and task focus. Primary responsibilities include daily care and feeding of 70+ VMware vSphere hosts, 100+ Linux servers, 60+ IBM RS/6000 AIX servers, and Compellent SAN. Extended responsibilities include design and architecture of infrastructure systems, implementation and management of disaster recovery plans resulting in a high level of survivability, project management, and integration of client/server applications. Through my years with the organization I developed as an overall environment technical reference, understanding of other department processes and how they interact with infrastructure. In addition I implemented new processes while keeping focus on regulatory compliance requirements.

Design, implementation, and management of the organization's computer systems including: Sun Solaris servers, Windows 2000 Active Directory, Exchange 2000 mail services, file/print services, fax servers, Windows application servers, BIG-IP load balancers, Dell OpenManage server & IT Assistant console, tape backup/restore, Cisco PIX & VPN solutions, and desktop support. Other projects included: hardware/software inventory management and procurement, documented disaster recovery procedures, and user guides for employees.

Served as an integral role in the IT organization to provide employees company-wide with services and support. Corporate network included 12+ facilities each with a Windows domain controller running DHCP, WINS, DNS, and print services. Global duties include: monitor all servers and perform maintenance as needed, developed remote access methods and tools, and participated in the integration team for merging acquired companies. Daily tasks performed: repair of employee laptops/desktops hardware or software, build workstations and provision accounts, maintenance of inventory database for hardware and software, responsible for NT/2K infrastructure systems tape backup, develop policies and procedures for information systems use (laptops, email, security, remote access). Participated in the Software.com and Phone.com merger migration team.
