Worked with Professor Stephen Mezyk in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry on several related research projects investigating the reactivity of chloramines and chlorine atoms in Advanced Oxidation Process wastewater treatment. For the chlorine atom experiments, I went on ten separate research trips to the Radiation Research Laboratory, at the University of Notre Dame, where I used their accelerator facilities to generate these radicals, and measured their reactivity with typical wastewater constituents in real time under advanced oxidation process conditions. At CSULB I made chloramines and measured their reactivity with wastewater contaminants of concern.
