Kylie graduated with a BA(Communications) in 1989 from the University of Technology Sydney, and began her writing career in media liaison at the University of New South Wales before joining the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Eye Research and Technology. She worked as communications manager for the CRC and affiliated organisations for 13 years before joining Biotext in 2009. Kylie has written and edited a wide range of documents and is very experienced in communicating science to a lay audience. Within Biotext, one of her main roles is substantive editing — rearranging and rewriting documents to improve flow and readability. Since joining Biotext, Kylie has written and edited documents for clients including the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care, the ACT Government, and the World Health Organization. One of her most important projects has been substantive editing and information design for the Australia State of the Environment 2011 report and the South Australian State of the Environment report 2013.
