The process requires both oral and written communication with the customer, ability to understand various types of documents including tax forms, legal, insurance, investments, etc., and the ability to assist customers in an efficient and compassionate manner. While in this position, I volunteered for, and completed, Shelter Management Training, and remained a member of the Shelter Management Team, on call with the county to set up Red Cross style shelters in case of emergency. I also volunteered for and was chosen to participate in a pilot program, set up to determine the feasibility of having eligibility technicians process applications for multiple programs. We were originally co-workers in the furniture leasing industry and later she became my customer when she moved into a corporate housing position with another company. We were originally co-workers in the furniture leasing industry and later she became my customer when she moved into a corporate housing position with another company. When she made the decision to start her own corporate housing company, she told me that as soon as she could afford to hire someone, she would really like it to be me. After a successful first year, she invited me to lunch and offered me the position. Together, we were able to take the company from $25,000 in monthly billing, with about $3,000 in profit, to a high of $550,000 in monthly billing, with approximately $120,000 in profit. This was achieved by providing consistently superior, personalized service. We maintained regular communication with the HR professionals and Project Managers we worked with, as well as the end users to assess service needs and make adjustments as necessary. One of the questions always asked at any client meeting was, “What can we do better or different?” This was not a yes or no question. This required the client to give it some thought before answering, and resulted in the customizing of housing, billing and services to accommodate their requests. We also developed and maintained excellent relationships with our lead sources and vendors. It’s these relationships that allowed us to provide the excellent service and competitive pricing we were known for. I also assisted the controller, preparing monthly invoices, as well as various bookkeeping tasks as needed. I worked full time from 2000-2008, and part time thereafter. If not for the passing of the owner of this company, resulting in it’s eventual closure, I would still be there today. Show less
