Bow Valley College offers a flexible, no-cost, online course for Permanent Residents who live outside of Calgary.Participants must live in or around Airdrie, Banff, Beiseker, Irricana, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Canmore, Chestermere, Cochrane, Crossfield, High River, Okotoks, or Strathmore.Workplace Communication helps Permanent Residents develop workplace soft skills, such as nonverbal communication, conflict resolution, and problem solving. Each participant is paired with a local mentor. The program contains 12 hours of online training, and 10 hours of mentoring meetings.Total mentoring time commitment is 16 hours (10 hours of meetings and 6 hours of preparation time). Average length of time to completion is 10 weeks.

Purpose: to establish, maintain and enhance the co-operation necessary among employers, students and faculty to ensure that all partners benefit from participating in the work experience component of the Applied Degree in International Business & Supply Chain Management-Implementing a strategic local and regional marketing plan to ensure the quality and quantity of work term opportunities provided to students in a recessionary local labour market-Building employer-client relationships with up to one hundred employers to ensure continued participation in the work experience component of the applied degree (regular communication including site visits, email and telephone correspondence)-Student support including responding to inquiries and providing customized career support for each student; provided assignments, grading, feedback and "extra help" to students -Classroom facilitation of ten professional development seminars to prepare students for workplace success-Liaising with department, faculty and the Industry Advisory Committee to collaborate on program progress, new strategies and opportunities for development
