Cnc Programmer

Santa Clara, Ca

Using Mastercam (x7, x8, or x9) I am responsible for programming a variety of parts requested by our customers. Using anything from a solid model in solidworks to just a 2D print, I use Mastercam to create an NC program for a 3 axis, 4 axis, or a horizontal CNC mill to read. I am responsible for:-Thoroughly reading each print-Making clear and concise setup and tooling notes-Understanding the machines-Finding or ordering the tools needed-Understanding and accounting for desired tolerances -Striving for the most efficient operation process to make a good part-Machine setup and adjustments-Reading G code-Machining at least the first part within tolerance, sometimes more (using Fanuc & Mori Seiki controllers) Parts are inspected by our QA department after every step of the operation process. Most of the time, I program the part and hand it over to a machinist. Occasionally, I am tasked to setup and proof the part or complete an order for the parts I program. I've programmed, setup, and made some parts that have tolerances within +/-.0002 inches on 3 or 4 axis mill machines. The parts we make are initially for prototypes and used in assemblies with a variety of applications that include lab testing equipment, cameras, electronic devices, and spacecrafts.

Mechanical Engineer/ Machinist

Advanced Witness Series

San Jose, California

My responsibilities encompassed a wide range of activities due to AWS being a small completely in-house business. Their calibration test equipment was designed, machined, assembled, and shipped by roughly 15 people. For the last six months I worked there, my work day consisted of making sure machines are running, constantly making parts in their machine shop (3 cnc mills, 1 lathe, all Haas). My responsibilities included 3-axis mill setup and efficient production of a vast selection of aluminum, steel, or plastic CNC parts by mill or lathe for assembly. Often I was involved in assisting the assembly of our products before shipping and using that feedback to alter parts we make.My other responsibilities at AWS include:-Assembly and development of their new designs.-Use Solidworks to model assemblies, document, and ensure fit and function of designs. -Use Mastercam to program parts for production of new designs.-Use AutoCAD to update, alter, and track part dimension revisions and assembly notes.-Use Excel to track shortages and order demands to inform the machine shop and purchasing.-Create Bills of Materials for a multitude of assembled product lines. -Track shortages, orders, and delivery times. From this information I would then-Research sources to procure raw material to be machined or used in assembly with respect to lead time and cost.-Purchase and track said materials.-Organize updated documentation-Communicate information between sales, assembly, production, and management
