I completed a Research Internship in the Cancer Signalling Lab at Abdullah Gul university in Turkey, focusing on culturing leukemia cells from different cell lines to investigate the effect of single and combination drugs on apoptosis and protein expression levels. Through this experience, I picked up very specific skills such as passaging cell lines, preparing cultured cells for drug treatment, and conducting MTT analysis to determine the proliferation and viability of cancer cells. I have become quite comfortable with preparing, stacking, and resolving gels for SDS PAGE, and preparing protein samples for Western blot analysis. I was also tasked with practicing different protein quantification methods, particularly Bradford and Lowry assays.
