Cambridge Dialogues For over a year an international group of Muslim educational researchers have been meeting regularly to think through a way forward for educating Muslim children in our contemporary world. Hosted at the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education, this project is called ‘Cambridge Dialogues’. Starting from a place of tawhid, as divine oneness, we bring our diversities together in applying critical and faith-based lenses to the aims, philosophies, pedagogies, and practices of Islamic education. Our Vision We aim to focus on articulating an Islamic paradigm with resonance for schools, teachers, informal Islamic educators, parents, and community leaders. We envision bold new educational futures whereby young Muslims can draw upon multiple sources of knowledge developing holistic forms of self expression in every aspect of their lives and learning. Our Methods We chart a way forward by drawing upon educational thought from classical Islamic traditions and simultaneously incorporating inquiry, reflection, dialogue, and engagement with heterogeneous contemporary knowledge about education. IELC will use an Islamic conceptual framework to develop new forms of - pedagogy, - curricula, and - teacher education for educating from Kindergarten to Year 12 (Age 3-18 years).
