With 25 years of nonprofit experience, Christine is a recognized exchange community leader and passionate advocate for international cultural exchange programs. She believes strongly in the idea that every young person, no matter their background, should have an opportunity to have a life-changing experience abroad.Christine succeeded InterExchange’s Founder, Uta Christianson, as President and CEO in 2008. Her tenure with the organization spans two periods. From 1992-1997, she worked for the Au Pair USA program, managing matches, transitions, logistics, and overseeing the NYC Metro area au pair cluster. She rejoined InterExchange in 2000, holding a progression of senior management and executive roles, including Chief Operating Officer, Executive Director, and Chairman of the Christianson Grants Selection Committee, before taking on her current role. Christine has proudly served the international cultural exchange community in a variety of leadership roles, including two terms as a Board Director of the Alliance for International Exchange and as a representative of J-1 Exchange Visitor Programs at U.S. Consular Posts around the world, on Capitol Hill, and on various panel discussions. She is a supporter of many international and domestic causes, ranging from women’s empowerment, providing opportunities for disadvantaged teens, and ending animal cruelty. After growing up in a small town, she appreciates the diversity of NYC and proximity to JFK’s international departure terminals. She enjoys cycling, cooking and visiting museums in her free time.Christine holds a B.A. in French Culture and European History from the University of New York at Albany, spent a semester abroad in Paris, and did a gap year as a Rotary International Youth Exchange Student to the Republic of South Africa. Prior to joining InterExchange, she held positions in theatre contract management, event and design project coordination, retail sales management, and social services.
