For the Applied Innovation Center (AIC) of DRI, I created a commercial assessment based on all of the companies that had attended the BioConvention of 2016 in San Francisco to see which, if any, were compatible for partnership with not only DRI but Renown Hospital as well. Out of the 1400ish companies I created a metric that compared variables such as market cap, therapeutic areas of research, company objectives, current events in the news, number of employees, and relevant location with that of Renown and DRI. My presented assessment, partly, led to the decision of partnership with the American Consumer Genomics company Helix.For the Department of Ecology and Earth Sciences (DEES), I was a part of a team that worked on creating a Web Application that would act as an intermediary between the sellers of pesticides and the farmers and producers of the crops. Companies such as Dole, OceanMist, Driscoll, Christopher Ranch, and others were our sources and provided us with the crops needed to be researched on. My job was to research and organize application methods, cultural control methods, chemical treatment methods, and most importantly the frequency of applications of each treatment method to provide a more viable and efficient method of treating pests (insects, diseases, weeds, nematodes, etc.). This frequency was based on phenology models for those specific pests. The main goal of the project was to treat these pests on a minimal as needed approach rather than from the sellers’ perspective of increasing profit margins and meeting quotas driving not only the sales of pesticides and treatment methods of them. Efficiency of the yield of healthy crops cannot be overshadowed by the monetized proficiency. The Application hit the market this past March. I mainly utilized Excel, JSON, and of course research on the Internet.
