Did you know that the old saying "Jack of all trades and master of none" has a second line? It goes "Is often times better than master of one". That's the way I've lived my life. I have worked in tech support, sales, and software development, as well as side hobbies of music/audio production and game design. I will never reach the end of new things I want to learn.I am a big fan of iterative design. My interest and studies of game design are remarkably in line with agile design practices. One of the main concepts of a game is the prototype. Work spent on a prototype is never wasted, as it lets you make important decisions about the direction of a design early. User interfaces and design priorities keep a web site fresh, an application relevant, and ultimately customers coming back, happy to use my software.Which ultimately brings us to coding. I'm happy to call myself a jack of all trades, however I work towards mastery of coding practices. There are masters who have walked this path already, so following in their footsteps to make maintainable code. It's important to me that my code be made for my colleagues as well as customers. Iterative design basically ensures that one day I will be making those changes. So across all types of development, front end back end and mid tier and even special applications, I work constantly to improve that mastery.
