Senior Data Scientist
I led the research and development team on MxGo, a search tool for aircraft maintenance. My team continued to development and improve the performance of MxGo by incorporating cutting edge NLP models with improved training data. I created a new standardized process for labeling and moving raw data for fine-tuning on new maintenance-specific NLP tasks. As the lead in research and development, I coordinated with contract strategy to turn MxGo from a prototype to a commercial product by setting goals, timelines, resources, and tasks. I established the technology roadmap for MxGo to continuously add new capabilities, improve current performance, and expand the user base. I also led the research on these new capabilities. Developed prototype capabilities included semantic similarity search, cleansing, and clustering. These products would transform the aircraft maintenance process at multiple levels: data entry, review, and analysis. I also developed and tested prototypes for retrieval-augmented-generation AI and text extraction from engineering diagrams.
Data Scientist
I researched, designed, and developed the core capabilities of MxGo, a maintenance data search tool built on natural language processing tools, to help aircraft maintainers input maintenance data faster and more accurately. The tool addresses the large data quality issues that the customer faces, which hinders the speed and quality of data analysis. As a research engineer I conducted user research to understand the maintenance data entry workflow. I designed, developed, tested, analyzed, and evaluated the MxGo prototype to meet user requirements I reported research, development, and test results internally and to customers. I presented and demonstrated key features and capabilities to the customer, ending with a high-fidelity web app prototype. I identified future opportunities within aircraft maintenance to apply MxGo and its underlying technology. I wrote proposals to secure funding for further development of MxGo and related capabilities.
System Engineer
Modeled maintenance, repair, and overhauled procedures using plant simulation software. Simulations were used to forecast different operations scenarios and their impact on throughput, flow days, downtime and other key performance indicators.Studied feasibility of outfitting legacy machines on the shop floor with Industrial Internet of Things devices to control, automate, and monitor various repair procedures. Created a virtual reality experience using Oculus for touring the facility and for exploring new potential floor layouts.
