Vaccine Systems, LLC is developing an automated vaccine reconstitution system that greatly speeds up and ensures the accuracy of lyophilized (freeze dried) vaccine mixing at the point of care. Increasing the speed and accuracy can dramatically reduce vaccine wastage, which often runs as high as 50% in mass vaccination campaigns due to environmental damage or improper mixing. On a worldwide basis this could save billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of labor hours as well as eliminate reconstitution mistakes. In mass vaccination campaigns such as those utilizing drive-through sites, arenas, and schools, the speed and labor savings alone would allow more people to be vaccinated much faster leading to a better experience for both healthcare workers and patients.
