About Lance Leque

My previous work experience has primarily been in customer service, but I have many valuable skills that would be applicable to any industry. Working directly with people is something that I'm very familiar and comfortable with as communication and willingness to help others are my strongest traits.I have an extensive background in sports so being a team player is like second nature to me. I’m also motivated by friendly competition and I have a strong sense of stepping up to take leadership.My primary talent is writing. When I was a sophomore in high school I was inspired by my journalism teacher to create a sports blog. For a few years - up until my freshman year of college - I regularly wrote, edited and published news/editorial articles covering the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Bucks, Wisconsin Badgers, and Marquette Golden Eagles. I even contributed a couple times for various websites, including Bleacher Report.I originally attended UW-Oshkosh straight out of high school from 2010-14. With just a year away from graduation, I had to make the difficult decision to drop out because of financial and personal reasons. However, I had always made a commitment to myself to finish what I started and I did just that when I re-enrolled at UW-O in Fall 2018 - finally graduating in Spring of 2020.Fast forward to January 2022, I’m thankful to have received my first opportunity at a career in journalism with Gannett. I’ve learned so much since I’ve started to improve my writing, interviewing and reporting skills.When I'm not working, I enjoy watching sports in-person or on TV, spending time with friends, traveling, sightseeing, and keeping tabs on my social media accounts - particularly Twitter.
