About Lara Trubowitz

Innovative, mission-driven executive with over 20 years of experience in higher education, crisis management, strategic planning and organizational growth, policy research and evaluation, community outreach and coalition building, hate incident response, diversity and equity initiatives, and teaching. I began my career as a professor, specializing in 20th- and 21st-century British and American literature/political history with a focus on antisemitism, racism, fascism, and neofascism. Drawing on my skills as an educator and researcher, and with an ability to quickly assess resources, systems, and curricula, I now work with colleges and universities, K-12 schools, municipalities, professional associations, and other organizations to help them align their vision(s) for diversity and equity with their policies and practices. I provide leadership training, evaluate growth strategies, and use research in restorative justice and incident response to help organizations mediate identity-based conflicts, expand partnerships across communities, and significantly scale inclusion and crisis response initiatives. My expertise includes:* 20 years+ experience in research, writing, and evaluation, public speaking, and partnership development* project expansion with focus on team building, fundraising, and increasing public awareness of an organization's vision, values, and programs* curriculum development for in-person & online learning * change management with emphasis on resource allocation, portfolio realignment, assessment of goals and operations strategies, and internal and external communications* Holocaust education, restorative justice, and prison education* training for colleges & universities on extremist groups and trends, hate incident response, and free speech protocols* Education policy and data-driven advocacy. As a Director, I ensure that my teams have the skills and confidence to excel and find meaning in their work. I know that I am succeeding in communicating content, organizational vision, and strategy when I am no longer regularly needed by those I supervise or by the groups with which I work. I enjoy parsing complex ideas and draw on my background as a researcher and professor to move projects beyond the cliché, make hot button or controversial topics more approachable, and to identify gaps in action plans and goals. I am meticulous in my attention to detail, a passionate listener, and I thrive when working on bold endeavors. I believe that credibility is at the heart of strong leadership.

Listed skills include Teaching, Copy Editing, Curriculum Development, Higher Education, and 20 others.
