As the Programs Lieutenant, I was responsible for oversight of the Inmate Classification Section, Gateways Through the Rockies Program, Reintegration and Recovery Program, Detention Investigations Team, Hearing Board Officer, and Inmate Programs and Mail Unit.

As the Court Services Lieutenant, I am responsible for the oversight of all Sergeants, Deputies and Civilian support staff assigned to this section. We move all inmates to and from the El Paso County Jail and the El Paso County Combined Courts (of the Fourth Judicial District). We are also responsible to move inmates from any facility in the State of Colorado who have business in El Paso County Court. Our transports include movement from mental health facilities, private and state prisons, any county jail in the state, and juvenile facilities in Colorado.

Intake And Release Section

I oversaw the Intake and Booking staff for midnight shift and day shift in this section. We were responsible for the lawful incarceration and lawful release of all inmates coming into (or being released from) the El Paso County Jail (or Criminal Justice Center).

Colorado Springs

I was responsible for the oversight of all staff (sworn and civilian) at the El Paso County Jail. I worked during day shift and therefore took on the responsibilities of several different administrative functions. I worked closely with the Security Division Commander (who was my direct supervisor) in all matters pertaining to the 5 shifts at the jail and oversight and responsibility for all of the inmates housed at the Criminal Justice Center.

I was assigned as the primary Public Information Officer. I completed all press releases for the agency, worked directly with the Sheriff on media relations and other community related events. I was a spokesperson in several areas to include community meetings, annual awards ceremony (internal), and any other functions as directed by the Sheriff. I was also responsible for oversight of the Concealed Handgun Permit Program, Extra Duty Program, Research and Development Section, and was instrumental with implementing the use of several Social Media networks for the Sheriff's Office. I also worked as the Legislative Liaison for the Sheriff's Office at the direction of the Sheriff.

I was responsible for oversight of the swing shift at the Criminal Justice Center and supervision of the Sergeants, Deputies, and Civilian Support Staff for the section. This included oversight of the entire facility and all operations regarding inmates housed in the jail.

I was responsible for scheduling, staffing, and all administrative functions as a first line supervisor of all deputies and civilian support staff assigned to my shift. This included time management (paid time off, FMLA time, workers compensation events etc). I was also responsible for completing evaluations of all employees assigned to the shift. I was the immediate supervisor of all significant events in the facility and handled operational functions which may arise during the shift.
