I became a volunteer firefighter with the Lamar Fire Dept. August of 1971 holding the rank of Captain until being promoted to Assistant Chief this year(2014).. Public service has been a major part of my adult life and I blame the Fire Service for that. I worked as a jailer/dispatcher 1971 thru 1973 for the Barton County Sheriff and continued as a reserve deputy there until December of 2008 having worked for five different sheriffs, 1974 started full time at Barton County Ambulance District serving there as an EMT, Paramedic, EMT instructor, Assistant Manager and Manager until I retired in March 2013 remaining as a consultant until December 2013. I still volunteer as a weather spotter for the County. Serving the citizens of Barton County has been and continues to be an important part of my life. I became Chief of Lamar Fire Dept. July 1, 2016.

Started in 1974 as EMT, became EMT-P in 1981 and became Director in 1995.
