• Leads North Carolina’s statewide effort focused on protecting North Carolina’s military installations, working with the communities around military bases, helping military families and veterans get the support and services they need, and helping connect veterans with jobs. • Serves as a cabinet-level department Head ensuring the issues that effect Servicemembers and Veterans are a priority for the Governor and future of the state.• Chair – Governors Working Group on Veterans, Service Members, and their Families. Tasked with determining how to expand and improve services for the state’s 800,00 veterans through a focus on jobs creation, workforce enrichment, health and wellness, legal and financial services and benefits for veterans.• Co-Chair – North Carolina Defense Industry Diversification Initiative. • Administrator for the North Carolina Military Affairs Commission and the North Carolina Veterans Affairs Commission.
