Managed Data Center Operations for this leading provider of end-to-end optical network and Internet infrastructure solutions. Supervised and mentored a technical team, maintained solid working relationships with internal/external customers and vendors, and ensured service levels were within requirements.Key Accomplishments:• Successfully headed construction activities of new state-of-the-art Internet Exchange facilities (ISX) in Seattle and Boston. Supervised installation of LAN/WANs, routers, switches, hubs and cabling, including patch panels, fiber, CAT6, raised floor, customer cages and computer racks. Developed work plan, staffing and resource allocation for each phase of project. Created a disaster recovery plan. Monitored infrastructure development and worked closely with construction project managers on computer room construction, project schedules, negotiation of construction and project changes.  Ensured goals were accomplished within timeframe and budget.• Influential in development of regional and global ISX operational strategies.• Significantly reduced operational expenses by using techniques such as leasing rather than purchasing desktop equipment, entering site agreements and other similar actions.

Supplied oversight for the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline spanning 3 business units, 12 pump stations, a $300MM 800-mile fiber optic network and $14MM modernization project. Established and managed network security, including voice, DNS, mail, intrusion detection, file-level security, audits, firewall rules, policies, 24x7 system monitoring and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).Key Accomplishments:• Effectively delivered $20MM network with accompanied $300MM fiber project. Built Information Assurance Laboratory Network to simulate a real-world heterogeneous “target” network, consisting of Windows, UNIX and NT platforms/operating systems.• Led a seamless migration of the entire Alaska Pipeline telecommunications system from Novell to a Windows NT client/server environment, including organizational plans that transformed the IT organization. Development of Disaster Recovery Plan.  Implemented ATM and Switched Network. Established security and disaster recovery plans and policies. Created SLAs between AT&T, CTG and SAIC matrixes with incentives and penalties. Managed system to 99.99% availability, reducing response time from several minutes to a sub-second and slashing operating costs. Increased team effectiveness using team development and training.

Directed delivery of all facility-based local switches & market expansions. Served as liaison between sales and line organizations for new codes and switches into new markets. Obtained contracts/agreements with local municipalities and LECs.Key Accomplishments:• Launched MCI Local Service for most major cities, coordinating all launches with MCI sales personnel across the United States.• Developed and implemented emergency 911 systems in multiple cities nationwide, requiring close collaboration with 911 state, county and PSAP staff. Planned and designed network, ordered facilities, secured contracts and performed thorough system testing.• Designed MCI 9-11 networks for high availability and continuity assuring public safety.
