I have worked on several projects while at North American Stainless (NAS). I initially started there as a contract engineer doing field work for the installation of a new EAF (electric arc furnace). NAS asked me to go to work for them directly and help with their next project which would be AP4 (or Annealling and Pickling line 4). I started full time with them in September 2006.After successful completion of this project, I was assigned to Bahru Stainless Sdn. Bhd. in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. Our parent company, Acerinox (based in Spain), had decided to build a stainless steel factory in the Asia region to be closer to that market. I was assigned to the purchase and installation of the factory mechanical utility systems (compressed air, steam, water treatment, potable water, and deionized water systems and distribution. I worked there for 3 years and 4 months on two different phases of the planned four phases. I returned in April 2013 to be reassigned to the Hot Mill Mechanical Maintenance department. I worked there for about a year and then moved into Hot Mill Operations as the Furnace Engineer/Supervisor. This portion of the Hot Mill included slab grinding operations, Reheat Furnace operations, and Water Treatment Plant operations.

At this company, I was responsible for managing the engineering staff and support staff to design and build equipment for two product areas. The primary area was automated conveyors for the automobile industry. We supplied a patented accumulating conveyor that bridged work stations at vehicle assembly plants. Our conveyors had a universal platen that custom tooling was attached to which would convey parts or assemblies from one work station to another. Because of the common platens, when models changed, only the tooling needed to be revised. The conveyors were re-used to save costs.We also designed and built foundry molding equipment based on designs from our parent company, Sintokogio, Ltd. in Japan. These were supplied to foundries desiring to upgrade and automate their foundry process lines. We also built and supplied the associated handling equipment for the molds to suit the customers factory and production needs.I assured that our equipment met customer specifications and schedules, managed budgets and spending, and did resource allocation to meet these parameters.

I was initially hired into the Anna Engine Plant to help with the Iron Casting Department project. I was the first non-Asian to be hired into the project. I helped hire and train all subsequent hires into the department. My job was to interface between the Japanese and American vendors to clarify all of our needs for our foundry and machining lines. I also selected and managed the consulting engineering firm that we used on the project. I eventually moved from the operations engineering side to the maintenance side of the department.I next took on the challenge of managing the Technical Service area of the plant. This area was a specialty maintenance area that serviced the entire plant. This included the Machine shop, the design service, and the prototyping areas. I managed four engineers, set budgets and business plans, manpower planning, employee training, evaluation, and discipline.I added two Catia cad stations and a five axis machining center to our capabilities. It was the first prototyping machining center bought by Honda of America. I also implemented a CADCAM software system to provide tool path programs for the machining centers.

I worked out of (then) Grede Foundries' Corporate Office near Wauwatosa, WI. From this location, we would work at various plant sites installing upgraded equipment and handling lines for production. This required that we interface with the local plant management and maintenance/engineering personnel to make sure the new equipment fit in the existing facility.

At Pontiac, I was responsible for various parts of the installation of two different high speed high volume iron casting lines for automobile engine blocks and heads.
