I served 4 years active duty on the USS Belleau Wood LHA-3. I assembled, disassembled, and moved ordnance. I was responsible for training new recruits on forklift operations and participated in all underway replenishment exercises. I was responsible for the upkeep and operation of gun mount number 4, a 25 MM chain gun. In addition to this I train shipboard personnel in the use of 9MM, 12 gauge shot gun, and M14 rifle, and performed as the Damage Control Petty Officer for my division. While in the Navy I learned the values of honor, courage and commitment.
