As Partner and Chief Investment Officer, Larry is Co-Founder of Quintessence Wealth (www.QWealth.com). Since 2007, Larry is well known as the host of Berman’s Call on BNN Bloomberg. His qualifications and 30 plus years of industry experience are extensive. Larry is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT), a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter-holder, a US registered Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA), and holds a BA in Economics from York University.Prior to founding QWealth (formerly ETF Capital Management), as Chief Technical Strategist and a Managing Director for CIBC World Markets, he led the technical and quantitative research department. Larry was also a senior technical analyst for Technical Data (now Thomson Reuters) in Boston and senior technical analyst and commodity trader for Marleau, Lemire Futures in Toronto. Larry began his career as a Toronto based investment advisor assistant in 1986, while completing his undergraduate degree. He completed a technical internship in New York with the CMT Association (CMT Association) in 1994, where he studied the techniques of many top Wall Street market strategists.Larry is a multi award winning portfolio manager focusing on asset allocation, capital preservation with a value or growth at a reasonable price tilt to his investment style. His award-winning investment philosophy focuses on assessing risk and return. Larry is working on incorporating an artificial intelligence into his investment process as he believes it will remove behavioural biases that are inherently the biggest cost of emotional investing decisions.Larry is the original author of the textbook for the technical analysis course offered by the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), which is the basis of education for technical analysis in Canada. Larry is past President of the Canadian Society of Technical Analysts (www.csta.org), past Vice-Chairman of the International Federation of Technical Analysts (www.ifta.org), and past President of the CMT Association. Larry is passionate about educating investors and giving back to the community. He is an active supporter of brain health (Dementia) research at the Baycrest Hospital Foundation, where he sits on the investment committee. He’s actively involved with the Children’s Aid Foundation, where he established the Berman Family Scholarship to help youth in care financial need to fund post-secondary education.
