This company was designed to provide services to the Stewart organization and its agents that the audit department was asked to perform but was unable to do. Created a wholly owned subsidiary, from within the audit department, to perform accounting and consulting services for over 400 customers.

Responsible for managing a staff of 65 professionals providing internal audit services, IT audits, compliance with Sarbanes Oxley for all domestic and international operations of the organization. Stewart is in the financial services industry with products including title insurance, software development and sales, automating county government functions, back-office processing for mortgage lenders, hosting an ASP environment for customers, and working with foreign governments to improve infrastructure.Accomplishments:• Developed an industry leading risk modeling program. The company has 350 subsidiaries and branches and 9,000 independent agents that were within the oversight responsibility of the audit department. The model allowed us to identify problems earlier and focus our resources efficiently, reduce risks and losses to the company by mitigating the problems sooner.• Developed an integrated audit approach so that all testing of controls for Sarbanes documentation was completed during our regular audit work. This saved several hundred thousand dollars annually and additionally many hours of external auditor billable hours.• Created a high performing team with very low turnover (turnover rate was zero for several years.) Provided internal promotions as well as promotions into operations. • Received highest possible ratings on initial Quality Assurance Review in 2006 which was based on the standards established by the Institute of Internal Auditors.• Responsible for more than 25 due diligence audits on the company’s acquisitions over a 5 year period. Our procedures lessened the company’s risks and prevented future losses. • Responsible for auditing frauds, embezzlements and other losses throughout the organization. Identified and/or investigated numerous frauds including several multi-million dollar embezzlements with the offenders being prosecuted and the company obtaining significant restitution.
