Total Access 5000 Product---------------------------------------The Total Access 5000 product is a carrier class multi-service access and aggregation platform using an Ethernet core backplane.Management Responsibilities:• Led engagement with Broadcom for company-wide switch chip solutions in multiple products.• Created and directed six person Agile team to increase ability to debug and troubleshoot issues within the products in the field.• Managed team of experienced developers for over a year to solve critical field issues on legacy products in order to ensure customer retention.• Coordinated development with remote teams including prioritization of activities and sharing of functionality across similar products.Software Development Responsibilities:• Provided technical expertise for difficult internal and field support issues including software update failures, resource contention problems, software upgrade failures, and memory leaks.• Identified and implemented core optimizations that improved performance by 25% and reduced memory usage by 20% on certain products.• Diagnosed locking and task switching issue in the custom RTOS kernel software and provided solution across the entire set of products.• Instrumented and solved major Ethernet switching issues including IGMP video performance, mac table corruption, and delayed timing packet delivery.• Provided mentoring to junior team members to develop the problem solving skills within our software development team.Development Process Improvement Responsibilities:• Led effort to provide developer training on improved testing and build failure resolution processes to increase speed of development. • Identified and drove testing process improvements to decrease feedback time between functional breakages and code changes.

CVQ High Definition Digital Video Surveillance Product------------------------------------------------------------------------------The CVQ Video Surveillance product was the industry’s first high definition IP-based video system which provides multiple streaming rates, distributed processing for improved scalability, and end-to-end video management in two embedded systems.Management Responsibilities:• Directed a team of eight embedded software developers by formalizing the product concept, designing system components, and identifying key milestones throughout the development cycle.• Managed prioritization of product features for three software releases to deliver the differentiating features of the CVQ product first to the customer.• Reviewed, interviewed, and hired additional embedded developers who could immediately contribute to the team.• Researched, negotiated, and maintained third-party source code licenses for software used throughout the product.Software Development Responsibilities:• Designed and developed key software architecture components including:• Embedded inter-process communication (IPC) interface for remote processes which allowed software to easily port to multiple platforms.• Shared buffering system to avoid copying of video data and degradation of performance.• Memory management replacement to reduce memory fragmentation.• Ported and eliminated issues within RTSP streaming server source code purchased from a third party.• Developed Windows GUI-based streaming application used in product concept validation and continuing quality assurance testing of the product.

Surgient Virtual Server Manager Product----------------------------------------------------------The Surgient Virtual Server Manager product provided automation and management of virtual servers using VMWare ESX and Microsoft Virtual Server technologies. Management Responsibilities:• Managed and stabilized existing customer deployments by assessing customer needs and developing methodologies for modifying active hosted systems.• Provided mentoring to new team members in rapidly growing professional services organization.

eQ2500 Streaming Media Server Product-------------------------------------------------------------The eQ2500 product was an embedded multiprocessor streaming media delivery platform which supported Real Networks and Windows Media streaming technology.Management Responsibilities:• Directed a team of seven software developers by prioritizing tasks, developing schedules, and driving the team toward committed goals.• Analyzed customer requirements communicated by Marketing and Sales personnel, influencing future product direction.Software Development Responsibilities:• Performed initial porting of the Real Networks RealServer streaming software to the Linux-based eQ2500 platform.• Became the subject matter expert on key features within the Real Networks RealServer product, including live stream distribution, multicast delivery, and administration configuration.• Analyzed and developed optimizations within the RealServer software, such as faster memory allocation, reduced mutex collisions, and application level file buffering.• Developed a Linux shared library for use with the Windows Media streaming server to provide client admission policy control based on load of the system.

ATLAS 550 Integrated Access Product--------------------------------------------------------The ATLAS 550 product provided a low cost integrated access solution that supported various capabilities including T1/HDSL call switching, Frame Relay switching, IP routing, Voice over IP, and Voice Compression over Frame Relay.Management Responsibilities:• Managed six software developers by prioritizing tasks, creating and meeting schedule milestones, and identifying development progress.• Coordinated hardware architecture changes with hardware engineers to support the software development effort and communicated them to the team.Software Development Responsibilities:• Provided initial porting of existing ATLAS 800 product code base to new Motorola 860 PowerPC processor. • Developed a device driver for the integrated high capacity HDLC channels in the Motorola MPC 860 Power PC processor.

ATLAS 800 Integrated Access Product--------------------------------------------------------The ATLAS 800 product line provided a central site integrated access platform which supported Frame Relay switching, Remote Access Server (RAS) call termination, ISDN and T1 / E1 dedicated and switched call routing, and limited IP routing functionality.Management Responsibilities:• Managed design, development and test verification of required product features for the ATLAS 800.• Improved performance of the ATLAS 800 system by tuning key features, including Frame Relay protocol support and RAS call termination.Software Development Responsibilities:• Developed Intel i960 firmware for high density HDLC Option Module which provides 128 HDLC Channels for use in Frame Relay applications. This module used DMA transactions across a PCI bus interface to achieve high performance data movement.• Created firmware for interfacing to Lucent K56flex modem chipset used on a 16 port Digital / Analog Modem Option Module, which provided call termination for remote dial-in users. This module used the IDT 3041 MIPS processor for downloading and configuration of the modem DSP as well as data movement through a dual port RAM device. • Designed and developed Option Module FLASH upgrade capability in order to allow upgrade of Lucent DSP software and firmware enhancements in the field.

ACT Intelligent Channel Bank System ProductThe ACT Intelligent Channel Bank system provided standard D4 line card support in a custom chassis with performance monitoring of Adtran intelligent line cards. It included support for SNMP, VT100, and various RBOC management platforms.Management Responsibilities:• Managed three person software development team for the Bank Controller Unit ( BCU ) for the ACT Intelligent Channel Bank. This involved creation and maintaining of software schedules, identifying task priorities, and coordinating with other software developers.• Designed and coordinated hardware development of BCU from the initial architecture design to end product manufacturing including schematic capture, PCB layout, mechanical packaging, and component selection and approval.Software Development Responsibilities:• Constructed software drivers for Motorola 68302 Serial Communication Controllers (SCC) for use in SNMP communication and a VT100 terminal interface. • Created EASYMENU VT100 Terminal interface software to support complex user requirements for presentation of performance monitoring data and configuration of DS0 cross connect matrix.
